2022 Poetry Reading Contest for XATU International Students

In order to carry forward the Chinese traditional culture, enrich the extracurricular life of International Students, stimulate their enthusiasm for Chinese learning, enhance their understanding of Chinese language and culture, and create a learning atmosphere of "common learning and common progress". On the afternoon of October 21st, the School of International Education held a poetry reading contest for overseas students through online and offline means, "Love for XATU, Poetry in Xi'an". Seventeen students from Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Rwanda, South Sudan, Cote d 'Ivoire, Uganda and other countries read classics in Chinese, expressing their love for Chinese culture.
This contest aims to provide college students a stage to show Chinese capacity,The works were selected to reflect the excellent traditional Chinese culture and modern civilization of classic poetry, including"Invitation to wine《将进酒》", "Dawn of Spring《春晓》", "Gazing at the Waterfall on Mount Lu《望庐山瀑布》", etc.. The excellent performance of the overseas students won the applause of the audience.
Consideringlanguage expression, emotion expression and reading form,The judges scored the contestants and announced the final prize.Fabrice from Rwanda, Joshua from Ghana and Thelma from Zimbabwe won the first, second and third prizes respectively.
The success of this activity not only enriches the students' extracurricular life, but also deepens their knowledge and understanding of Chinese traditionalculture. SIE hopes that international students will take this competition as an opportunity to further improve their enthusiasm and Chinese level.
